2nd Annual Drug Safety MENA Summit, 13-14 February 2013, Abu Dhabi
Date: Jan-15-2013The 2nd Annual Drug Safety Summit is due to take place in Abu Dhabi, UAE from 13-14 February 2013. Supported by the Centre Anti Poison et de Pharmacovigilance du Maroc, W.H.O. Collaborating Center for Pharmacovigilance and with more than 20 key leading experts confirmed to speak, the event will discuss the regional Pharmacovigilance initiatives across the Middle East as well as promote the risk reduction strategies and up-to-date advances in the field of safe medication practice.
The event will feature over 20 top speakers including: Prof. Rachida Soulaymani, Director, W.H.O. Collaborating Center for Pharmacovigilance; Amr Saad, Head, Egyptian Pharmacovigilance Center, Ministry of Health, Egypt; Madiha Juma Al Al Maskari, Section Head of International Communication, Ministry of Health, Oman; Dr. Thamir M Alshammari, Director, The National Pharmacovigilance and Drug Safety Center Vigilance and Crisis Management Executive Directorate, The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA); Amjad Aziz Mahmood, Head of Pharmacovigilance Center, Ministry of Health, Iraq; and Dr. Ola Ghaleb Al Ahdab, Researcher, Pharmacy Consultant and Pharmaceutical Advisor, Registration and Drug Control Dept., Ministry of Health, U.A.E.
Dr. Thamir M Alshammari from SFDA is a recent addition to the programme and will be giving a keynote presentation on SFDA's activity in the region. When asked about his participation he said, "It is our pleasure to participate in the 2nd Annual Drug Safety Summit to advise health care professionals in the MENA region about pharmacovigilance and the drug safety activities of the SFDA. We were the first drug authority in the MENA region that created and resourced a performing pharmacovigilance activity."
