Date: Aug-30-2012
Long awaited one day workshop to be delivered on the Human Tissue Act...

Events 4 Healthcare are to deliver a one day workshop focusing on the Human Tissue Act.

This workshop will be held at the Hatton in Farringdon, London on Thursday 11th October. The focus of the workshop is to cover some of the key areas to consider when working within the human tissue arena; these include the practicalities and ethics of the HTA and research licensing.

This workshop is aimed at individuals within England, Wales or Northern Ireland who use human tissue to support their research, manages clinical or research tissue resources. Please note, no prior knowledge of human tissue legislation is required and the legal situation in Scotland will be described, but the session predominantly supports learning of the current situation in England, Wales and N. Ireland.

We have two important and influential speakers joining us for the day; Dr Rachel Smith, Programme Manager, (Training and Partnerships), Medical Research Council Regulatory Support Centre at the University of Edinburgh and Dr Martina Prude, Head of Research Governance at the University of Southampton. Dr Rachel Smith commented: "This workshop covers a relatively new legislative area. We are aiming to provide participants with practical knowledge to help them apply the law and to consider ethics when working with human tissue. The day is designed to be interactive and discursive and I'm really looking forward to being a part of it."

The workshop will use the latest in iPad technology for a truly interactive and innovative delegate experience. Delegates will also have the opportunity to complete an on-line test at the end of the workshop to assess their knowledge of the Human Tissue Act and obtain a certificate.
