This course uses The latest Generation of Simulation, which provides the highest retention rates and effectively incorporates new competencies. The simulation requires participants to manage several accounts, analyze each one and identify their key accounts. And then focus on one of the key accounts, complete a SWOT analysis, profile the identified key stakeholders, identify the influence network(s) and build an action plan. The simulation will be used to practice the Account Management Process for immediate and successful implementation.

The function of the lateral habenula, one of the smallest brain regions and evolution-wise considered one of the oldest, has been somewhat of a mystery to science, although there is evidence that it is involved in depression and avoidance behavior. Now, a new Canadian study of rats suggests it plays an important role in making cost-benefit decisions.Researchers from the University of British Columbia (UBC) write about their findings in a recent online issue of Nature Neuroscience.

The chemotherapy drug cyclophosphamide is recognized for its ability to stimulate anti-tumor responses in the immune system. Now, a new study recently published in Science suggests it gets help from gut bacteria to do this. There are more than 100,000 billion bacteria in the gut - which collectively behave like an organ. They are crucial to our health. Not only do they help to digest and break down food into essential nutrients to be absorbed and metabolized in the body, they also eliminate potentially toxic substances and defend against pathogens.

A new report The Heart of the Matter: Rethinking prevention of cardiovascular disease by the Economist Intelligence Unit, sponsored by AstraZeneca, investigates the health challenges posed by CVD. Despite greater recognition of the problem, every indication is that the global burden of the disease will get worse before it gets better. Greater collaboration is needed to prevent the disease. CVD is the world's leading killer, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). It accounted for 30% of deaths around the globe in 2010.

Neuromuscular junction studies are mainly concerned with understanding the connection between the nervous system and the muscular system, specifically with the synapses that transmits information across and back. By modelling this interaction in the lab, scientists hope to investigate subtle changes in muscle functional outputs in response to treatment with novel modulatory and inhibitory compounds. Such a system may prove invaluable in furthering research efforts aimed at the development of effective treatments and reducing the overall cost of clinical trials. James J. Hickman, Ph.D.
